Powers: He has two powers you could have called them day and night to each other but that changed when he was turned. Now all light one brought has been snuffed by the shadows of the other.
Growth: While he was still an un-turned Avian Jeb had a knack for growing plants, flowers to be more precise. A true green thumb, able to create and grow beautiful flowers in all variety and colors. Just being around flowers seemed to perk them up, as if they wanted to show off how beautiful they could become. His gardens rivaled all in Felnova, at least that was what he was told.
After Jeb's change he's found all that can be created and grown by his abilities are flowers with a dead looking steam, riddled with catching barbs. Wicked sharp, one soft brush will have blood welling up from your skin. Blood reds and deep onyx blacks replaced the petals of all flower that he grows and creates. Their petals almost withered at best, if he tries he can produce flowers with plump petals. This though he has found occurs when their roots are bathed in blood.
His personal hidden garden is full of various flowers in red and black hues sprouting from briar patches that seem to reach for your skin in hopes they can refresh themselves on your blood.
He has found he can control these new flowers in ways he'd never imagined. Calling forth to the forces of their nature he can will them to move, blocking paths. Create a wall of writhing briars to fend off enemies while providing medium ranged damage from flailing vines twined around one another making them thick as cords. As well as having them capture his enemies in their grasp the harder they struggle the deeper their barbs plunge into his victims skin.
Shadow/Dark:
Much less prominent when Jeb was younger his shadows really only aided his quick retreats from the princess. Unknown to the young avian he'd sink into the shadows in-between blinks. Making her question whether or not she had truly seen him in the first place.
Later on in life his shadow control became more acute notably so after he'd been turned vampire by his best friend in the world.
To date Jebediah can manifest his shadows in various of ways; Can be used to deflect some projectiles and physical blows. Any medium to extra force applied and his shadows can be penetrated. In these cases they work as a sponge that slows down his opponent rather than bringing them to a complete stop. On their own he can harden them to act like semi-blunt weapons, more closely resembling a whip in damage.
Other aspects of his shadows involve slipping into cover and out of sight as long as the shadow he slips into is big enough to hold his own. He can hide himself in others shadows of medium build and larger. Anything smaller and he has a hard time keeping the casters height and shape.
He can use them as an intimidating aspect creating things that could terrify and frighten. Like an illusion but comprised entirely of shadows dependent on the light and object that casts them. He can affix semi solid horns upon his head by manipulating his shadows to make himself look more threatening, as well as curling them up around himself in a oval like aura. (like in the picture above)
Long-sword; tahm'shi kariu
Jebediah owns a long sword, simple design in nature but under his touch can turn into something much more sinister. Cloaked in his shadows Jeb can pull it from anywhere, usually he hides it in his own shadow. That or in his familiars shadow, he is quite talented with his long sword. Wielding it with confidence and precision mastered over 34 years of training.
His long-sword; tahm'shi kariu (Soul Hunter) has a dark secret laying within its simple design. 34 years ago Jeb had been dumped into Kurai by a an elf he had intended to feast upon, surprised and confused the V-Avian wandered around the red stained lands of Kurai. Finding himself in front of a blacksmiths workshop starved his eyes a deeper red than usual his fangs extended. The young vampire was suffering when the demon took him in. The demon knowing Jeb's affliction brought him a glass of blood, which he drank greedily. This went on till he was up to good health, the demon unlike most you would think was kind. At least in terms of demons, he let the avian stay as long as he liked.
Not knowing where to go Jeb stayed with his savior, worked for the demon for months. He learned the basics of smithing helping out where he could all the while devising a way to get back to Felnova. He learned how to travel the realms and on the day he perfected this art the demon had a contract to craft a sword with the ability to steal souls. Jeb was highly interested in this prospect that he stayed till the swords completion the only thing left was for the long-sword to be picked up by its new master and given a name to seal its allegiance. That was the night Jeb stole away with the sword running as far as he could till he could not take another step.
Setting down for the night Jeb was unaware that his leave went noticed. Half asleep the young Vampire was beset upon by an agent of the blacksmith. They tussled rolling back and forth on the ground in a full on scrap for dominance. Jeb won his victory by grabbing the stolen sword, in a last ditch effort he called upon his shadows purely by instinct. Curling up the sword startling the demon just long enough for Jeb to plunge the sword hilt deep into its flesh. The sword gleamed in Kurai's blooded skies as Jeb called its name for the first time. The shadows seemed to seep into the sword, blood red eyes opened upon its length fixating upon the demon it was sheathed in.
Wrenching upwards Jebediah slew the demon severing its heart in two. As life left its eyes his new sword gleamed in a greedy way as it pulled the demons soul right from its body. It's agonized screams haunted Jeb for months afterwards. Standing up from the lifeless body of the demon Jeb retrieved the demon sword, his shadows fell back revealing a onyx black blade. Something writhed beneath its surface, he could only suspect it was the soul of the demon. Days went by before Jeb had regained his strength from the scrap, he noticed in those weeks the blade slowly shifted from the deep color of starless night to its alabaster finish. He could not sense the soul any long, and made a note. This blade indeed ate the souls of his enemy, and it took quite a bit of time to digest them.
In this time Jeb was unable to use the swords ability again, he had tried on fauna of Kurai but when he had the sword turned on him instead. His shadows tried to suck out his own soul, he only survived on the memory of a bright faced smiling vampire princess. The hand he had wielded the sword with had been burnt, he had claw-mark rakes all up his arm as if the soul of the demon inside had tried to crawl its way out. He this made a mental list of requirements for this sword that he noticed and tested over a year.
Requirements: 1st, His skin had to be in contact with the hilt of the sword 2nd, He had to provide the sword with fuel in the form of his shadows 3rd, Jeb would need to slay his enemy with the sword itself 4th, the sword needed to stay in-contact with his victim for its soul to be consumed 5th, this requirement was one of the most important for the sword, he had to call its name close to the death of his victim. Awakening the power it held in slumber deep within its cold alabaster blade. If this was not completed the victim would die a normal death soul intact.
He also noticed that he could not call upon the swords power again while the sword housed a soul. This would always result in the soul trying to escape and trade places with him, the sword would instead consume him instead. While the sword digested its prey its blade would turn onyx black. This was a good indicator that he should not activate the sword by name. The time that it took for the sword to finish off a soul depended on the souls strength. Usually averaging around two to three weeks. Once it took a month but overpowering a soul of that strength almost killed Jeb. The stronger the soul to be devoured the more shadow's the sword consumed, thus this ability rested on how strong Jeb was. If he was not strong enough then he himself would be devoured from the backlash of power consumption his sword needed.
Familiar: Jackdaw-Female-Kezier Before Jeb was turned into a vampire he had a Jackdaw bird as his familiar. They had made their pact early on in their life thus the birds own life became inexplicably interwoven with his own.
Their bond deepened over time in such a way where he could see through the birds eyes. Feel what the bird was feeling and vise versa, the bird always seemed to know when Jebediah was feeling down and tried to cheer him up. Their connection only expanded as the pair grew, even though the bird could not speak she was able to send feelings and images via telepathy to Jeb.
Kez was an able flier and competent in combat, prey she had gotten often found their way into Jeb's hands. She would be so happy to give him a present no matter the time. Once she even dropped a dead rat on the princess's head thinking the young Vampire would like her gift. This happy joyful demeanor changed when Jeb did. The shift in him had caused a shift in Kezier, after being gone for a month she had reappeared from Jeb's shadow.
Reborn a sliver of what she used to be, a shade of her former self Kezier had donned shadows similar to her master. Eyes and mouth glowed red as if she were lit from within by flame. She no longer held joy but rage, anger and hatred of those that lived. Kezier could meld with her masters shadows and those around, her attacks now dealt a shadow flame that could eat away at her victims reiatsu. Not something that was deadly to the one who gained a new hole in their body but if not flushed away could fester. The longer her shadow fire burned within the wound the more reiatsu it consumed as fuel. You could compare this to the smoldering of an ember; after a while you can feel the burn but overall unfazed, yet let it sit there longer and you might have a deeper burn than if you were to brush it off quickly.
Kezier can be banished back to Jeb's side if she is exposed to bright light. As she is now mostly shadows only a husk of her real form remains, just enough to be recognized as a bird but nothing more. In these times she hides in her masters shadow only able to come back after a long rest to regain her strength to hold herself together apart from her master.
